Mobile car battery replacement

Car won't start or cranks slowly? Steve tests the battery where you parked, replaces it if it's bad, and cleans the terminals. No tow bill.

Signs your battery is on its way out

  • The engine cranks slowly, or you hear a fast click and nothing else.
  • Headlights and dash lights go dim when you try to start.
  • The battery light is on.
  • You've needed more than one jump start lately.
  • Corrosion on the terminals, or a battery case that looks swollen.
  • The car starts fine in summer and struggles on cold mornings.

What Steve does in your driveway

Steve comes to your home, work or a parking lot with the tools and the parts. He load-tests the old battery first, so you know it's the battery before you pay for a new one. If it's bad, he swaps it in and cleans the terminals. Jump starts too.

A dead battery isn't always the battery. If something is draining it, or the charging system isn't keeping it up, a new battery will die again. Steve can run a charging system diagnosis (is it the battery, the alternator or the wiring?) and trace a battery drain.

Typical prices for a mid-size car, parts and labor, before tax. You get the exact price before any work starts. No trip fee around Aurora, Naperville, Oswego and the Fox Valley. A flat $35 trip fee everywhere else in Chicagoland.

Diagnosis is priced by distance. The first hour is $95 within about a 45-minute drive of Aurora and $120 farther out. Each extra hour is $120. The diagnosis is credited toward the repair.

What changes the price

  • Your vehicle. Some cars need a bigger or more expensive battery, and some hide it under a seat or in the trunk.
  • Battery type. Newer cars, especially ones with start-stop, often need a more expensive type of battery.
  • Cables and terminals. If the clamps or cables are badly corroded, they need repair too. That's a separate line in the table.
  • Charging problems. If the real problem is the alternator, a new battery won't fix it.

Questions

How do I know it's the battery and not the alternator?

A load test shows whether the battery can hold up. If the battery tests fine, or a new one keeps dying, the charging system is next. Steve's charging system diagnosis answers that.

Can Steve replace my battery at home or at work?

Yes. He does it in your driveway, your work parking lot or wherever the car is parked in Chicagoland.

How long does it take?

A battery test and replacement takes about 30 min.

Do you do jump starts?

Yes, jump starts are part of what Steve does. Call or text 331-314-8484 and tell him where the car is and what it's doing.

What does the battery price include?

The ranges are parts and labor for a typical mid-size car, before tax. The battery line includes the load test, the new battery and cleaning the terminals.
