Mobile brake repair in Chicagoland
Grinding, squealing or a soft pedal? Steve comes to you with the tools and the parts, fixes your brakes where you parked, and gives you the price before any work starts.
- Upfront price before work
- No tow bill
- Same-week appointments
Signs your brakes need attention
- Grinding or scraping when you stop. Pads worn down to metal can chew up the rotors, so don't wait on this one.
- Squealing or squeaking when you brake. It's often a sign the pads are getting thin.
- A soft or sinking pedal, or the car pulling to one side when you brake.
- A shaking steering wheel or a pulsing pedal when you slow down from speed. That usually points to the rotors.
- A brake, ABS or traction light on the dash.
- A parking brake that no longer holds on a hill.
What Steve does in your driveway
Steve drives to your home, work or a parking lot with the tools and the parts for the job. He looks over the pads, rotors, calipers and lines, tells you what he found, and gives you the price. You approve it, and then he gets to work.
Most brake jobs are done one axle at a time: front or rear pads, or pads with new rotors. Calipers and hoses are done one at a time, and the system is bled afterward. A seized caliper or a leaking hose can also cause a pull or a soft pedal, and both are on the price list below.

What changes the price
- Your vehicle. Make, model and size change the parts price. Trucks and European models run higher, and the estimate form adjusts for your car.
- Pads or pads and rotors. If the rotors are worn thin, grooved or warped, replacing them with the pads costs more but fixes the shake.
- Rust and seized parts. Stuck slide pins, rusted bolts or a corroded brake line add time and sometimes parts.
- Drums or discs. Some cars have drum brakes in the back and some have discs, which is why there are separate lines for each.

Questions
Can Steve replace my brakes at my house?
Yes. Steve does pads, rotors, calipers, brake hoses and brake fluid at your home, your work or a parking lot anywhere in Chicagoland.
How long does a brake job take?
Hands-on time is about 1–1.5 hr for front or rear pads and 1.5–2 hr for pads and rotors on one axle, on a typical car.
Do I need new rotors or just pads?
It depends on how worn the rotors are. Steve tells you what he finds before any work starts, and the price table shows both jobs so you can see the difference.
Is it safe to keep driving with grinding brakes?
Grinding usually means the pads are worn through, which damages the rotors and makes stopping harder. If the pedal feels soft or sinks, don't drive the car. Call or text Steve and tell him what you're hearing.
How do I get an exact price?
Send the short form with your year, make, model, ZIP and what the brakes are doing. You see a typical range right away, and Steve texts or calls to confirm, usually within the hour.
